Do you remember when you had time? Not just an extra hour in the day, but an entire day to call your own?
Before babies, swim lessons, PTA meetings, and work conferences, we actually had some sort of a personal life.
Balancing life is tricky.
I say this with no kids, no PTA meetings, and no real work pressures. I am amazed – How does everyone with all those extra challenges do it?
Taking some sick time this week, I have zero energy to work on things I need to work on at home, so I am left feeling a little overwhelmed. I know I can do it, but man, it’s exhausting when you’re sick. It gives me a new appreciation for time, but also begs the question: do we really need to get sick to slow down?
No. In order to have some semblance of balance in your life, not to mention sanity, we have to plan days off. No matter how busy we are, whether you're a parent with a house full of kids, a business owner handling all the details, or just someone with a lot on their plate, you have to "schedule" time to yourself, or you'll go nuts. Look at it this way Christine. If you can put things aside due to sickness, then you can put them aside for yourself. Those things will still be there when you get back.

I just went through the same thing! I think it was my body telling me to slow down, well that and a virus telling me to slow down. This is why I try to keep my sundays all my own.

We need to give ourselves a break once in a while. Being sick is not the most pleasant way to do it. But, it does give time for reflection. Hope you feel better soon.
