A letter written from a father to his son.
If only all parents would be this way.
Would you?
Nate,
I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me. The only thing I need you to plan is to bring home OJ and bread after class. We are out, like you now. I’ve known you were gay since you were six, I’ve loved you since you were born.
– Dad

That’s beautiful! I would react the same exact way, however, I would request Oreos and milk cause we are always out!

My friend posted this to his facebook wall–I think it’s beautiful. I like to think if I had a gay child I would react the same way. But, I have very little patience, so I probably would have shouted out loud “I love you. I know you’re gay and it’s ok!” long before they came out… I should work on that 🙂

If any of my daughters were agonizing over coming out, this would be the least that I would do..!

I would hope my children know me well enough to know I don’t judge… particularly those whom I love
But yeah, if necessary, I’d do it.
